A fortnightly look at the big screen. News, views and interviews presented by Gavin Millar. The Front stars WOODY ALLEN , in his first straight part, as a cover for blacklisted screenwriters during the notorious McCarthy era. Director MARTIN RITT and writer WALTER BERNSTEIN were themselves victims of the blacklist which operated in television too. So was ZERO MOSTEL, the other star of The Front, whose film suicide mirrors the real-life fate of several hounded writers.
' The behaviour of the networks and studios remained totally opportunistic and cynical throughout that entire period.'
