The Disappearance of Aimee

on BBC Two England

Screenplay by JOHN MCGREEVEY
In 1926 Aimee Semple McPherson , flamboyant evangelist, disappeared in mysterious circumstances from the beach at Santa Monica, California. Her equally mysterious reappearance provoked charges of faked evidence. As the film opens, Aimee faces her prosecutors in the Los Angeles Municipal Court.
Faye Dunaway is downright mesmerising as Aimee and Bette Davis has the best role she's y had in far too long
