Each week in the UK there are 500 new books published, over two million books sold over the counter, and million books borrowed from libraries. Each week Robert Robinson will make a selection from the newly published books and talk to authors and readers.

Today is the 93rd birthday of P.G. Wodehouse and to celebrate he has a new 'Wooster and Jeeves' book published, Aunts Aren't Gentlemen. Robert Robinson visited him at his home on Long Island near New York, where he found the great man already well advanced with his 97th book. P.G. Wodehouse talked about his early days in a bank, his books, and his immortal comic characters, Jeeves, Bertie and Psmith.
Also this week Peter Tompkins, co-author of American bestseller The Secret Life of Plants, defends the claim that plants suffer pain and anxiety, can be used as lie detectors, and prefer Bach organ preludes to rock music.
