Frederic Delius spent the majority of his life in France. There he met his future wife and subsequently moved with her to the artists' colony of Grez-sur-Loing, near
Fontainebleau. Sadly, he was to suffer a long descent into illness and total paralysis, a torment slightly eased by the arrival at Grez of Eric Fenby , a young Yorkshireman who came to work as Delius's assistant in his last years. Violin Sonata in B (1st mvt)

Paul Allen talks to Zadie Smith about her follow-up novel to the prize-winning White Teeth. The Autograph Man tells the story of Alex-Li Tandem, a collector, seller and occasional faker of autographs, who gives people what they want: a little piece of fame.

Recorded in May at London's Conway Hall, the last of two programmes featuring highlights from this year's Freedom of the City Festival. Dedicated to presenting the best in free playing and improvisation, the festival features musicians from a great range of nationalities and ages who are all part of London's vibrant creative music scene. Part of this week's programme focuses on performances by maverick saxophonist Lol Coxhill to mark his 70th birthday earlier this week.
