Leopard - a Darkness In the Grass
Even for the powerful- shy and elusive-leopard, survival on the baking-hot African plains is a struggle. This documentary follows a female leopard and her cubs as she defends the vulnerable offspring against elephants, a cheetah vying for possession of prey, and lions with the ability to wipe out her family. It is not only animals lower down the food chain who have to battle for life. Repeat Stereo.

Coverage of the spectacular opening ceremony and the first day of competition from Atlanta in the first of ten programmes from the tenth Paralympic Games. A star-studded line-up featuring singers Liza Minnelli, Carly Simon and Aretha Franklin launches the biggest celebration of disabled sport ever staged, with over 4,000 athletes from 102 countries.
The British team's medal-haul in Barcelona four years ago far exceeded the total gathered by their counterparts in the Olympics - a result likely to be repeated in the state of Georgia over the next ten days in the 17 medal sports.
Christopher Reeve - the American actor paralysed in a fall last year - hosts the stadium ceremony. Introduced by Helen Rollason, with commentary by Hamilton Bland and Paul Dickenson.
Action from the athletics track and swimming pool is tomorrow at 8.00 pm.

Live from the Royal Albert Hall, London, in a simultaneous broadcast with Radio 3, the new Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Jiri Belohlavek, makes his debut at the Proms for a programme featuring a trio of pieces from his Czech homeland.
Dvorak's Te Deum, written for the composer's visit to America in 1892, opens the concert, sung by soprano Judith Howarth, baritone Ivan Kusnjer and the BBC Symphony Chorus. It is followed by works with military associations from the two greatest Czech composers of the 20th century: Martinu's Field Mass and Janacek's
Sinfonietta. The evening is completed by the last of Mozart's piano concertos - No 27 in B flat, K595 - performed by American pianist Richard Goode.

During the interval, host Michael Berkeley delves into the life of the Royal Albert Hall beyond the Proms and finds the celebrated concert hall, in its 125th year, hosting a wide range of events.

(The first of two televised Proms featuring youth orchestras is tomorrow at 10.45pm on BBC1)
