In June the London Symphony Orchestra invited the famous American violinist to spend two weeks with a small section of the orchestra in the dual role of soloist and conductor. Tonight's programme features the climax of his visit, the second half of the final concert at the Royal Festival Hall on June 23, and also includes rehearsal film and interviews with Isaac Stern and members of the L.S.O.

The Programme:
Bach: Concerto in C minor for violin, oboe, and strings
Solo oboe, Roger Lord
Mozart: Concerto in G major for violin and orchestra (K.210)
The orchestra led by Andrew McGee

"A baton would have broken the spell. By the end of the second concert... violinist and supporting instrumentalists were playing with the single-minded intimacy of some long-established chamber consorts" (The Times)
