Tonight, two films.
In Ghana Coffins there is a new way of easing the grief that surrounds a burial: coffins are flamboyantly shaped according to the occupation of the deceased. So a taxi driver goes to the cemetery in a wooden taxi, a fisherman in a boat, a grandmother in a large speckled hen. Ghana's coffin-makers are doing a good business.
And in Our God the Condor some Andean villagers capture a condor to do ritual battle with a bull. The condor symbolises the free spirit of the native Andeans, the bull the once-conquering
Spaniards. The villagers believe their future fortunes depend on the condor's safe return to the skies.

The fourth of six programmes. Face Values
In the design-obsessed 80s cultures were turned into commodities. The world became a shop and culture became global as television spectaculars promoted the decade's 'we are the world'
Author Stephen Heath argues that this'designer multiculturalism - cultures arranged in pretty patterns on our screens' smoothes over the real problems we face. As the film shifts from the Design Museum to the Rushdie affair, from the international art world to a Sikh wedding in Wolverhampton,
Stephen Heath suggests that in the 90s we will need a fresh approach to human freedom.

Kev, Bugsy, Gaily, Steve and the rest of the gang call themselves the Burny Mob after the stream - the Burny - that runs past the huge council estates in Dundee, where they live. They go from their grim streets to the beautiful. uninhabited Isle of Scarba, on a tough nine-day survival course. They emerge from the gloomy statistics of crime and unemployment as a group of canny individuals full of potential.
