Siberia - a region rich in natural resources and one of the coldest inhabited areas in the world. Vladimir Kirlitsyn is an engineer at the wood pulp factory near Ust-Himsk, a Siberian new town. He and his family are concerned about the mass destruction of the forest and the effects pollution from the factory is having on people and the ecology of the region. (e)
