Armistice Day in 1918. at the age of 27. Derek Jarman , director of The Tempest and Caravaggio, has created a personal visual counterpart to
Britten's complete score, including a highly imaginative evocation of Owen's experiences in the trenches, intercut with documentary footage from the wars of this century.
The music is taken from the original recording conducted by the composer.

2: The Cry of the Icon by JOHN TAVENER
To Orthodox Christians the violent events of Good Friday are imbued with a reverent stillness. In the second of this series of specially commissioned music videos, the composer John Tavener , himself a member of the Orthodox Church, explores these ideas with music and icons. The work, performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, conducted by Lionel Friend, is based on the Lament of Mary, the Mother of God. It is taken from the Orthodox compline for Good Friday.
