Buckwheat Zydeco Live Featuring 50 minutes of goodtime Zydeco dance music in the company of Stanley 'Buckwheat' Dural and his band. Zydeco music belongs to the rural black population of southern Louisiana and is distinguished from other styles of American regional music by its French and German influences. The French influence can be heard in the lyrics of Zydeco, - many Zydeco musicians being bilingual in French and English. German settlers passing through Louisiana left the accordion, which helps give Zydeco its distinctive sound.
Rhythms of the World filmed Buckwheat Zydeco on their recent trip to the UK where on a London stage, they recreated all the atmosphere of a Louisiana club. Production FRANK HANLY TIM MAY. BOB PORTWAY Series editors
