There are 30,000 farms in Wales but the small family farm is under threat. EEC quotas and high land prices are making it increasingly difficult for farmers to make ends meet. Many are having to turn to other jobs and think of new ways to earn a living. Farmer
Gwynn Whitticase works the land that has been in the family for five generations but the barn that used to be the cowshed, milking parlour and silage pit is now being put to a very different use. At weekends the family runs a disco which is proving very popular and opening up the farm to tourists.

Tom Lee and Dawn Gray invite you to share the happiest day of their lives. Tom is 21 and Dawn's 19.
Both are unemployed - so it won't be a very grand do.
Tom's father Tommy was a coalminer in Easington until last year - he's paying for the wedding with the last of his redundancy money. Tom's mother Dot is roping in family and friends to help. Easington is a small pit village on the Durham coast. It has an active colliery, but with one in six here out of work, it's a village haunted by memories of the past.
Easington's men and women are fearful now for the future of their families and the community.
