An opera by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Text by J. M. Synge.
Last of three British operas.
Set in a fishing community in the Aran Islands off the west coast of Ireland, against the backdrop of the perpetual danger of the sea. Vaughan Williams based the opera almost word-for-word on Synge's play and in the character of Maurya found the perfect expression for his gifts of lyrical melancholy.

Disorganised Crime
Film director Franc Roddam introduces two subversive tales of incompetent criminals.

Persons Unknown (Isolitiignoti)
Starring littorio Gassman darcello Mastroianni Claudia Cardinale and Toto.
Ambitious small-time crooks plot the perfect robbery. Their attention to detail is meticulous, but when the time comes to put their brilliant plan into operation, things go catastrophically wrong. Mario Monicelli 's affectionate spoof of crime thrillers became a classic in its own right and launched Gassman as a comedy star.
Screenplay by MARIO MONICELLI SUSO CECCHI D'AMICO AGE and SCARPELU
Directed by MARIO MONICELLI (An Italian film with English subtitles. Black and white)

and at 11.10pm Down by Law
Starring Tom Waits John Lurie and Roberto Benigni.
One night in downtown New Orleans, a pimp and a radio DJ find themselves sharing a prison cell after being framed. They are joined by 'Bob', an exuberant Italian with a slim grasp of the English language but a passion for Walt Whitman. They plot their escape together....
Jim Jarmusch 's wacky second feature after Stranger than Paradise employs hip and strong language, off-beat and hilarious performances, and stunning locations shot in glistening black and white.
