A chance meeting aboard the QE2 between Glenn 'Fatal Attraction' Close and director Jon Blair resulted in their collaboration on this documentary, telling the story of a year in the life of the tiny cow-town of Big Piney, Wyoming. When
Close's parents settled there 12 years ago, she would occasionally accompany her father, who became the town's doctor, on his rounds. She thus encountered a host of people whose recollections she became determined to record on film before they and their way of life died out completely.

Three saddle tramps run into trouble on the way to California when they stop at the small New Mexico village of Del Norte. After a shoot-out in which their friend is killed, Collings leads Harris to the wife and daughter he deserted seven years before.
Peter Fonda directed this strange psychedelic western and cast the great cult movie actor Warren Oates in the role of Harris.
