Two Lazy Crows
Lower than the Angels Jacob Bronowski traces the evolution of man's unique gifts; foresight and imagination. The programme follows the changes in anatomy and physiology that give man upright walking, stereoscopic vision and the precision hand-grasp of the toolmaker. It retraces his steps as he marches out of Africa, through desert and ice-age, to leave the print of his hand in the dark of a Spanish cave. Senior producer DICK GILLING Editor ADRIAN MALONE (R)

The Twenty-Five Hour Clock Remember biorhythms - whether you would be prone to accidents on Saturday, or have a marvellous love-life next Tuesday? The theory is rubbish, say the scientists. But another replaces it.
There are clocks in your body which, left to themselves, would have you live a 25-hour day. Tampering with them, just by working the wrong shift pattern, may lead to illness, or may affect your ability to have a child.
Understanding body-clocks helps to cure winter depression, warns of death rhythms in unborn babies, leads to pills for reducing jet-lag, gives longer lives to some cancer patients - and may even provide cheaper meat! Narrator Paul Vaughan Film editor ROBERT BROWN

A Celebration of his Journey
In 1934, Laurie Lee left home in the village of Slad in Gloucestershire and set out to see the world. After wandering through the south of England, he decided to visit Spain and walk from north to south. This film in two parts is an 'impression' of that incredible journey.

A recording session in search of the Bolden sound.
Humphrey Lyttelton and a hand-picked group of musicians made a record last summer in which they tried to reproduce the sound of the Buddy Bolden band. Bolden has been called the first jazz man but his band, which was active at the turn of the century in New Orleans, was never recorded.
Film cameras followed the rehearsal and the recording session in a small studio in south-east London as Humphrey Lyttelton coaxed his men to forget their own ways of playing and adopt the Bolden style.
Taking part are Russell Davies and Pete Strange (trombones) Alan Elsdon (cornet) John Barnes and Randy Colville (clarinets) Jim Bray (bass) Colin Bowden (drums) Keith Graville (guitar) Henry Lowther (violin) and Ron Weatherburn (piano)
