by Dean Rusk
In the last of four programmes, DEAN RUSK , former American Secretary of State, recalls his final years in office while serving President Johnson. Without doubt, most Americans remember Rusk as the man who so strenuously defended the war in Vietnam. Some have said that he betrayed his own liberal instincts and the interests of his country. Kenneth Harris , in this exclusive television interview, asks Dean Rusk how he feels about that now, ten years after the defeat in Vietnam.

Recorded from this year's Proms season at the Royal Albert Hall with Marie Slorach (soprano), Stephen Roberts (baritone), Michael Rippon (bass), David Wilson-Johnson (speaker), BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus, chorus-master Brian Wright, Choristers of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, musical director Francis Grier, BBC Symphony Orchestra, leader Bela Dekany, conducted by Krzysztof Penderecki
Introduced by Richard Baker who also talks to Penderecki before the performance.
This fine work by one of the leading figures in Polish contemporary music was given its first performance in 1966 to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Münster Cathedral when the composer was 33. Scored for large choral and orchestral forces, it gives a graphic account of the Passion story while the range and textures of voices and instruments are extensively exploited to convey its intense drama and grief.

(The next visit to the Royal Albert Hall in this season of Henry Wood Promenade concerts will be on Sunday 28 August on BBC1 (except Wales), when Andrew Litton conducts the BBC Concert Orchestra in Bernstein's Overture Candide. Gershwin's Piano Concerto and An American in Paris.)
(Book, The Henry Wood Proms, a history of the concerts from 1895 to 1979, by David Cox, price £8.95 from booksellers.)

Nine programmes from the BAFTA award-winning documentary series Circuit Eleven Miami
7: From 70 cases in 1969, the rape figures for the Circuit Eleven catchment area of Miami rose dramatically. Ten years later they stood at 700 per annum. No other crime statistic was so shocking. The ages of the victims ranged from two months to 91 years, and five per cent of those raped were men.
In this documentary the work of the State is observed at grassroots as rapists are confronted by their victims and by fellow rapists in an approach that sees rape as a mental sickness in need of a psychological therapy.
