plays Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No 3 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, leader Geoffrey Trabichoff, conducted by Bryden Thomson.
Introduced by Robin Ray.

As a climax to his series of master-classes centred on this week, Jorge Bolet gives a concert performance of the concerto. Of all Rachmaninov's works for piano and orchestra, this is the largest in scale and most epic in proportion - immensely taxing and difficult to play.

by Dean Rusk
In the third of four programmes, DEAN RUSK , the former American Secretary of State, recollects the Kennedy years and remembers that they were far removed from 'Camelot', the popular name for Kennedy's term of office.
He talks to Kenneth Harris about the day-to-day development of the Cuban missile crisis of 1962 and its eventual outcome. In 1963 President Kennedy was assassinated and Rusk found himself working for President Johnson. In this exclusive television interview, he describes the qualities of Johnson as President and talks about the slow but deep involvement of the United States, and himself, in the war in Vietnam.

Nine programmes from the BAFTA award-winning documentary series Circuit Eleven Miami. 6: John A. Spenkelink (30) was convicted of murder and sentenced to death in 1973. He endured a six-year nightmare on Death Row, never faltering in his plea of self-defence. All the time, the mills of Florida justice were grinding slow, but remorselessly sure. By Thursday 24 May 1979, John Spenke link's life hung by a thread. At 1.30 pm, that thread snapped. The next day, at 10.0 am, John Spenkelink sat harnessed and immobile in the electric chair. At
10.18, he was declared dead. This film is a sobering analysis of what took place at Florida's first elecrocution for 15 years.
