"3: West Indian Children in our
Schools
' Being black is one thing, but being, black and daft - that's trouble is how a West Indian mother sums up a discussion between black parents about the disappointment they feel with what the education system offers their children. These parents have known for some time what the Rampton Report, once again, highlighted this summer; that children from West Indian families have not been performing as well as they should.
David Moore , Head of Religious Studies in a large, boys' comprehensive school in Brixton, addresses himself to this problem and puts forward some ideas for redressing the balance. These changes he argues are necessary not just for black children, but for all children. With Usha Prashar , Richard Knight and Yvonne Collymore
