Racing Days at Brooklands
Each year members of the Brooklands Society meet at what remains of the Brooklands Motor Course to remember 32 years of motoring history. Only small areas of weed-infested concrete remain to bear testimony to the men and machines that created the Brooklands glamour. Drivers such as Kaye Don , Malcolm Campbell , Parry Thomas and John Cobb hurtled round the concrete bowl.

A series of eight programmes 7: Borstal Boys
The Borstal Allocation Centre at Strangeways is a prison within a prison. It holds up to 500 young men and boys aged 15-21. In theory they should only stay a few days, but in practice they can find themselves inside for as long as three months.
Although segregated from the adults, this is a taste of real prison life for boys whose average reading age is 12, and whose mathematical ability is no better than that of a nine-year-old. Yet here they are, experiencing the realities of our obsolete and overcrowded prison system.
A recent parliamentary report has stated that the practice of keeping such young boys in a prison is a scandal. And Assistant Governor Frank Weigh asks, ' What kind of society is it that is producing these young criminals? '

If your way of life and livelihood is under threat, how do you explain it to other people? Fishermen in Amble, Northumberland, decided to make a film. But isn't that too difficult for ordinary working men? Too ambitious? The result proved good enough to take to the European Parliament.
Jeni Barnett also brings you other examples of self help; the ' well woman' clinic in Manchester, which advises on health rather than illness. And meet Devonians whose factory is a ' waste saver ': it gets materials from a local tip and makes jobs for teenagers.
