with Joyce Grenfell, Lord Shinwell William Douglas-Home, David Astor, Claud Cockburn and Sir Oswald Mosley
In December 1919 Nancy Astor became the first woman MP to take her seat at Westminster. 'Nobody wanted me there,' she said. 'It was like going into a man's club.'
In this film biography, John Grigg tells the story of Nancy's American upbringing, her marriage to a millionaire, her politics and of her reputation as one of the great characters of her time. JOYCE GRENFELL returns to Cliveden, the Astors' country house, and, with the help of the Astors' own home movies, recalls her 'Aunt Nancy' in her heyday as political hostess there.
Immensely enjoyable (EVENING STANDARD) Full of knockabout comedy
(DAILY EXPRESS) A charming, wicked and larky documentary (DAILY MAIL) Producer JEREMY BENNETT

Children's Parties
The best of times, the worst of times .. magic or misery, funny or frightful, happy or horrendous a child's party can be timeless and the memories of it remain with boys and girls for ever. It can also reduce parents and entertainers to nerve-jangled wrecks.
These memories may also remain for ever.
This documentary film looks in on just a few of the thousands of children's birthdays that were celebrated in the summer of 1981. a simple country party, a circus party, a prep-school party, a multi-disco' partython', a party for rising child prodigies who played for their supper, and the longest street party in the worm.
