A season of film biographies of artists and musicians. in Songs of a Sourdough
Verses from the Gold Rush
' A bunch of the boys were whooping it up in the Malamute saloon.'
The characters and the settings of the Last Great Gold Rush. In 1898 the discovery of gold drew to the Klondike adventurers and prospectors from all over the world. After them came a little Scottish bank clerk, Robert Service, who turned the tales of the High North into lively, often humorous verse. And he sold over a million copies of his first poems: Songs of a Sourdough. This programme, filmed on location in the Yukon, tells the story of the Gold Rush through the eyes of Robert Service, with dramatised scenes of his life, with verse and with the astonishing still photographs taken on the Arctic trails and in the riotous gold towns by the early photographers.

Nine documentary films which take a close look at a controversial Police force in action.
The Royal Hong Kong Police have been accused of corruption and bribery at all levels. This series shows the job they have to do - as a British Colonial Force working among 41-million Chinese.
John Norman, ex-London policeman, is now a CID Inspector in Tsim Sha Tsui - Hong Kong's Soho - where the line between the straight and the bent is more than a little curved. As Norman is drawn into robbery, kidnap and murder, he shows what it is to be on the Hong Kong beat, where British policemen bow before the God Kwandai, and row in a Dragon Boat Race against the Triads.
