Second of a two-part documentary Calling the Tune
Narrated by SARA KESTELMAN
Last week's film showed some of the ways in which the officials and advisers of the Arts Council spend public money on the arts in Britain. Tonight's examines their impact on artistic taste; at how they decide, to a great extent, what new paintings we see, what comes to our local theatres and so on. It asks, are the bureaucrats right, or are those critics justified who believe the Council can't tell a waltz from a Quango?
