The last of 15 documentary films about life in Britain made week-by-week from September to Christmas last year.
Christmas at St David 's
In winter, comparative peace returns to St David's, on the most westerly point of Wales, for during the rest of the year it's a honey-pot - a centre of tourism. This birthplace of Wales's patron saint is at once a city and a village. Tonight's programme captures the events leading up to Christmas Day 1978.

Leon Trotsky was born 100 years ago. Along with Lenin he became a hero of the 1917 Russian Revolution, and the creator of the Red Army. Deported by Stalin in 1928, he was finally murdered with an ice-pick by a hired assassin in Mexico. Nicknamed 'The Pen' for his brilliant writings, Trotsky was also a forceful orator, a talented historian and a literary critic. But how effective was he as a politician? Why was he so easily outmanoeuvred by Stalin?
Professor Alee Nove makes his own assessment of the man who was once described as 'a son of a bitch, but the greatest Jew since Jesus Christ' - with contributions from E.H. Carr, Trotsky's grandson, and some of the secretaries and bodyguards who shared his last unhappy years in exile.

As we move into the 80s, Horizon takes a final look over its shoulder at the last ten years.
Our guide is Gordon Rattray Taylor, the original editor of Horizon. It's been a decade of contrasts; Concorde and man-powered flight, test-tube babies and abortion, nuclear reactors and solar roofs, micro-processors and meditation. The 70s opened with men walking on the moon. It ends with an energy crisis, inflation and unemployment.
Gordon Rattray Taylor's assessment of the 70s pulls no punches; he says we've had some painful shocks, but he detects signs that we are already learning from them as we enter the 80s.
