Trevor Philpott reports on The Snow Business
For this series of repeats we have chosen in the main the films that were the most fun to do and which even the people they were being made about considered the most fun to make.
The first of them, The Snow Business, is about those holidays in the snowy mountain peaks which the British began to flock to during the 60s. No longer were the glamorous Alpine resorts the winter pleasure grounds only of the rich, now the vast majority of people roaring in each winter were package tourists with different sized pocket-books and different ideas of fun.
The Snow Business compares the joys to be bought at St Moritz. the most fashionable resort of alt. with those that can be had in the ever-expanding snow centres on less exclusive mountain tops - at about a tenth of the price.

The most prized of all Britisn decorations for valour is the Victoria Cross, which is put ahead of all other honours, decorations and awards for bravery - civil or military. But there are m?ny other medals awarded for valour, and in this series of six programmes GENERAL SIR JOHN HACKETT looks at some of the rewards given to the British serviceman, and at the conditions in which they were won. Although the use of medals as military awards is comparatively recent, they have a long history as an art form to commemorate important people and events. This first programme traces the history of the medal from the times of the Greeks and Romans to its introduction into Britain under Elizabeth the First.

5: The Catch
HMS Guernsey is a policewoman of the sea. The laws she enforces define the dos and don'ts of fishing. Her beat is three-quarter-million square miles of coastal water. The trawler skippers she orders to accompany her to the nearest port appear before magistrates with the power to fine up to £50,000, and confiscate the catch and the nets - crippling blows to the master of the Jose Caesareo and the master of the Candida Viera , whose stories are the subject of this film. Both were caught with their nets down inside Britain's 200-mile limit. Both faced bankruptcy and ruin. But for the men who sail the Fishery Protection Vessels it was a success, an essential demonstration that valuable fish stocks must be protected and conserved, so that when finally the argument over Britain's fishing limits is settled, there will at least be something within those limits left to catch.
