As she leaves Pakistan, Tigris is hit by a storm. Her top mast breaks. The boat itself is gradually going down as the reeds absorb water. How much longer can she go on? There are fights with sharks and tensions among the crew when suddenly the 5,000-year-old voyage is confronted with the 20th century in the form of the Ogaden War.
Buzzed by war planes ana wnn ports closed to her, Tigris has nowhere to go. HEYERDAHL, after four months and 3,000 miles, faces the agonising prospect of being forced to end his voyage. Commentary spoken by EDWARD WOODWARD
