An international knockout chess tournament, presented by Jeremy James
Second Semi-final Donner (Holland) v Larsen (Denmark)
' Well, there's probably no player in the world who has lost so many games with this variation as I did, but I must play it,' says Jan Hein Donner of Holland, noted chess writer and wit, elated by his sensational win in the first round, as he takes on Bent Larsen of Denmark, the most successful chess player in Western Europe for the past 15 years.
This should be a great tussle between two players who had one of the most exciting and entertaining games in last year's tournament.
Expert commentary and analysis by William Hartston , twice winner of this tournament.

The Sumerian Voyage of Thor Heyerdahl : a series of four programmes 2: Departure
'I for one am not a sailor. I have been drifting with the wind and the current and most of the men I have with me have no experience of the sea whatever.'
As soon as. the Tigris enters the Shatt-al-Arab, the wide waterway that leads to the Arab Gulf, she's immediately in trouble. She has all the problems that primitive man had - plus modern ones.
The Arab Gulf is one of the most dangerous and congested waterways in the world. There are hidden reefs, oil derricks litter the sea-bed and giant oil tankers take two miles to stop. What are the chances of a primitive reed boat surviving collision with any of these? Commentary spoken by EDWARD WOODWARD
