In 1936 many middle-class families were spending their holidays as usual in the hills above Barcelona when Franco led his African troops in a rising against the Republic.
Jaime Camino 's film counterpoints the reactions of two families to the disruptions in their holiday village and their decision not to return to Barcelona. The children are delighted that the holidays are stretching into the winter, but by the following spring life is not such a carefree picnic.
