Written by Alfred Jarry
Translated by Cyril Connolly
Treatment and direction by Jan Lenica
with the voices of Alfred Marks as Ubu, Miriam Karlin as Ma Ubu, his spouse
Alfred Jarry wrote Ubu when he was a 15-year-old schoolboy as a parody on one of his teachers, and the play was performed as a kind of puppet show in the attic of one of his friends.
Later, as a young man, he dramatised it and gave it the title Ubu Roi and it was staged in one of the most avant-garde theatres in Paris and created a great scandal,
