From BBC North East: Pipeline
When work began in January 1975, it looked like being a ten-month job - the building of a 36-inch diameter steel gas main from Long-town, north of Carlisle, to Bishop Auckland in County Durham. But those 65 miles of underground pipeline - part of the national network transmitting North Sea Gas across the country -met many delays. In the end, the project was only completed in August 1976.

Robin Ray introduces the Dance Theatre of Harlem

Founded nine years ago by the outstanding New York City Ballet soloist Arthur Mitchell, the Dance Theatre of Harlem is the world's first all-black classical ballet company. Their success has been phenomenal and worldwide, including two sell-out seasons in this country and appearances in the Royal Command Performance.

This programme includes documentary sequences with the company and excerpts from five works in their wide repertoire, ranging from the exotic, with Dougla or Forces of Rhythm, to the more Classical, with Balanchine's Bugaku, Arthur Mitchell's Holberg Suite.

with J. B. Priestley
In the autumn of 1933 J. B. PRIEST LEY made a journey through England. He recorded a ' rambling but truthful account of what one man saw and felt and thought ', published a year later entitled English Journey.
In the autumn of 1976 Priestley revisits some of the places he went to in 1933, recording his impressions of contemporary England and comparing them with his memories.
In this, the first of three films, sometimes accompanied by his wife, Jacquetta Hawkes , he visits the Cotswolds, reflects on the renaissance of Coventry and discovers the nightlife of Birmingham.

The story of one family's pursuit of happiness.
Matthew Davis , at 13, has flown the Atlantic a dozen times but never walked across a room unaided. For Matthew suffers from cerebral palsy and his unorthodox medical advisers are 3,000 miles away in the United States. His parents' dedication to Matthew's recovery is absolute and for them, as for so many emigrants before them, Philadelphia is the city of hope as well as of brotherly love.
