In 1972, Hannu Mikkola became the first driver from outside East Africa to win the Safari. Can his British Ford Escort beat the mud and the dust, the Japanese Datsuns and the German Porsches two years running in this Easter marathon, best test in the world of the ordinary family car?

At once beautiful and sinister, the imaginary circus conceived by the great French painter Georges Rouault, who died in 1958, is a symbol of all that is best and worst in society. In this film Rouault's Circus is brought to life. As the shifts occur in his own work, the performers are seen in a constantly changing light.
