Television's ' eye in the night' was used recently to study a wild badger sett, but the remotely controlled infra-red cameras were first used by zoologist DAVID MAC DONALD to make unique night-time observations of the social behaviour of the wild fox.
His research dispels the legendary image of a solitary and cunning predator fit only to be hunted to extinction as the threat of rabies approaches our shores.
