A reporter with the Daily Express, war correspondent for Time magazine, she married Hemingway in Cuba and shared his last 15 tempestuous years during which he wrote Across the River and into the Trees, The Old Man and the Sea, won the Nobel Prize, and finally shot himself.

This unification was heralded by a macabre encounter ' by the Pool of Gibeon' (II Samuel Ch 2 v 13).
