Both teams share the same playing fields, club house and dressing-rooms which makes this match as much of a local derby as one could wish for. Add to that the spice of an RFU Knockout Cup First Round tie and you have all the ingredients for excitement and endeavour on the rugby field.

A Journey to Jamaica
'Being black in a white society, you sometimes wonder whether there is a place for you. Especially in Liverpool, which is like some great generator running down.'
That's how Wally Brown describes the situation for those young people whose parents come from the West Indies, but whose home is Britain. With Ewen Gilhespy , he runs the Princes Park Youth Centre in the tough Liverpool 8 area. Most of the club are black, and of those who have left school half are unemployed. Earlier this year they arranged for four of their members to visit Jamaica-their first visit to the West Indies. ' To feel part of the community you have to have confidence and a sense of who you are and where you are going. And that's what a lot of our youngsters just don't have. Now for the first time in their lives they will see policemen, probation officers, businessmen and politicians, who are black or of mixed-race - like themselves.' But how far was it possible for two crowded weeks to have the effect the organisers hoped for?

Pompeii
Nothing but bones that's what we are,
Death hustles us humans away, Today we're here and tomorrow we're not,
So live and drink while you may.
Pompeii and nearby Herculaneum were destroyed by the volcanic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The houses, temples and theatres were buried and remained hidden for nearly 2,000 years until excavations revealed the wonderfully preserved buildings of Roman times.
Professor Barry Cunliffe takes us through these uniquely complete streets and tells us how the people lived then - and how little life has changed in the bay of Naples. Introduced by BARRY CUNLIFFE
