Ralph Richardson is 70 this year. As an actor he continues to triumph in the theatre, most recently in "Home" and "West of Suez". Off stage he is a wonderful raconteur and a sharp observer of life, as all his performances suggest.
In this informal portrait, filmed in Bognor where Sir Ralph goes for holidays, and in his own home, he talked to Patrick Garland about his strange childhood by the sea, early days in the theatre, his love of literature and painting, and the wide-ranging interests and hobbies which all contribute to the personality and achievement of this great actor.

A couple of teenagers faced with the prospect of an illegitimate child decide to solve the problem without recourse to their parents. Known as Blue Jeans in Britain, this sincere and unsensational film was one of the best of the series of teenage dramas which started with Blackboard Jungle.
