The world's last great frontier has fallen to the tourist. Under the leadership of Peter Scott, the first-ever party of British tourists set foot recently on the Antarctic continent - 40 sightseers first-footing in the snows of the great white south.
Who were they? Why did they go? What did they see? Is Antarctic tourism a threat to the wildlife of the only unspoilt continent?

It is more than 3,000 years since the scribes of Genesis told their story of man's earthly paradise - but they were borrowing from an even older story which also told of gods forming man from clay, of forbidden fruit and of a goddess called 'Lady of the Rib.' This original paradise was set in a land called 'Dilmun' - a 'lost' civilisation which once ranked in importance with the legendary Sumer and the great civilisations of the Indus valley.
For the last 18 years a Scotsman, Geoffrey Bibby, and a team of Danish archaeologists have been excavating in the island of Bahrain. Some of their findings have led to an extraordinary historical detective story, which Magnus Magnusson tells tonight. With clues 5,000 years old he follows a trail through deserted temples, buried cities, warrior gods, fresh water springs on the sea-bed, skeletons of snakes and the hundred thousand burial mounds of Bahrain.
