The anniversary of Shakespeare's birth on 23 April, 1564, draws thousands to
Stratford in celebration. Among the places they visit is Hall's Croft, the home of the poet's daughter and her husband, Dr John Hall. Having walked through the house they can stroll into the garden which Shakespeare knew and loved.

Written and partly directed by Marcel Pagnol and based on the novel Nais Micoulin by Emile Zola, it tells the story of a hunch-back deeply in love with a farmer's daughter who is forced to watch her fall for the charms of the local landowner's son.
