The International Championship: Ireland v England
A fortnight ago the Irish began their current International season by holding the mercurial French to a 9-9 draw. Today they face an England XV which must still be reeling psychologically from the rout at Cardiff Arms Park last month when Wales won 22-6. That result proved conclusively that England must resort to basic principles of ball possession if they are to make a mark in the International Championship in their own centenary year.

Recollections by Kenneth Clark with Alda Anrep and Iris Origo

Bernard Berenson (1865-1959) was one of the most influential art critics and art historians of his time. For several decades his word on who painted what amongst the Italian painters of the Renaissance dominated the art market. Many of his judgments on what we experience when looking at pictures have proved durable.
He left his villa, I Tatti, and his magnificent library to the University of Harvard to be used as an institute for the study of Renaissance art.
Kenneth Clark, to whom I Tatti was a sort of second home, shows a profile of a complex and intriguing human being.
