Starring Judy Holliday, Aldo Ray

When a marriage looks as though it is on the rocks, it's too late to ask if the couple concerned are really the marrying kind. Or is it?
George Cukor's smooth and precise direction ruthlessly avoids sentiment in the interests of entertainment. There are two classic sequences - one where Aldo Ray rumbas with a statuesque blonde and the other where he and Judy Holliday feed their in-laws.

Introduced by Cliff Morgan
At the end of an International season which produced a series of results that paid no heed to the form-book, tonight's programme reviews both the victories and the defeats. It reassesses the action and incidents which made England flatter to deceive, delighted Irish supporters in Dublin, stunned French supporters in Cardiff, and eventually settled the destination of the Championship title in the final game of the season.

A series of film reports by Trevor Philpott

Round the rim of the western world, guarding its frontiers, are the legionaries of the 20th century - the soldiers and airmen of the American armed forces. In Europe there are 300,000 of them. They have been here now for more than a quarter of a century. They have brought their families, built hospitals and schools, created their own self-sufficient world as once the British did in India.
They are in Europe prepared and pledged to fight if necessary. What do they think of the place, the people, and the job they are here to do? Obviously they consider it a better posting than another, much more violent, on the other side of the world-obviously it's 'A Better Place than 'Nam.' But what else? What fills the minds and the days of an army so large, so far away from home... without a war to fight?
