A second chance to see the great Russian pianist in his much acclaimed television recital at Carnegie Hall in which he plays works by Chopin including the G minor Ballade Scarlatti, Schumann, Scriabin and Horowitz - his own technically astounding variations on a theme from Carmen.

In a career stretching over forty years Vladimir Horowitz has established himself as one of the finest pianists in the world-perhaps the finest. Yet his public appearances become increasingly rare with the years, and, when first broadcast, this recital marked his television debut. It is still the only such record of his playing.

The first of a new series in which famous sports stars tell their own stories and express their own opinions against the backcloth of their own exciting action.

"I've broken my collarbone seven times... my neck... two thighs... vertebrae in my back... my wrist... ankle... and the tibia a couple of times."
Josh Gifford, champion National Hunt jockey, talking. It is the week of the Grand National, the race he has never won...
with Fred Winter, four times Grand National winner, twice as a jockey, twice as a trainer
"Money brings out the worst in men; danger brings out the best."
and Captain Ryan Price Gifford's guv'nor
"The Hill House and Rosyth cases were a terrible misjustice of character of the guv'nor and myself" says Gifford.
