The High Chaparral ...is the bid of a family seeking roots in the newly won West
...is the threat to the new settlers from Mexicans and Indians
...and spells adventure in the Arizona territory of 1870

Manolito leaves the routine of the High Chaparral ranch to look for excitement. First he meets his old friend and enemy El Lobo, the Mexican bandit, and then a trio of uniformed religious musicians. The fortunes of all become inextricably involved, but Buck eventually helps to ensure that 'God will provide.'

"I became completely uninterested in everything and I didn't see the point in going on and after a couple of weeks I reached the point where I lay down in front of the gas fire."

Most of us get depressed from time to time, but with some people it's more than this, and they are in fact ill; for depression is a disease which can and should be treated.
In tonight's programme the Consultant Physician talks to a Psychiatrist and a General Practitioner about this disease. They discuss what it is and how it is treated.

Japan's entry for the 1968 Italia Prize
Eight-year-old Kozue Yoshimori is one of some 200 thalidomide children born in Japan. She had not been able to attend school because she was born without arms. In October 1967 her grandmother took her to the Tokushma University Hospital to be fitted with artificial arms and hands. As she was without even vestigial arms, special artificial limbs had to be invented, and tonight's film tells the story of how science overcame the many technical problems involved before little Kozue could join the school-children she had previously only watched through the playground railings.
