Jackie has some terrible sins to admit to at his very first confession including a plan to murder his grandmother and cut her body up into little pieces. Gran gleefully believes his penance will be very severe indeed once the priest hears. But when Jackie returns home it's not sackcloth and ashes he wears - but a halo.
(Jack Wild, who plays the part of Jackie, recently scored a great success as the Artful Dodger in the film version of Lionel Bart's musical "Oliver!")

Man and science today
Venereal diseases - or sexually transmitted diseases as doctors now call them - are infecting more and more people all over the world. In Britain they may soon be commoner than measles.
Tonight's programme explains which are the main sexual diseases. It shows what causes them; what they do to people; how they can be recognised and treated; and what can be done to teach young people, who are most at risk, how to avoid infection or at least to know when they are infected.
The "sexual revolution" is regarded as a major cause of the rise in sexual disease, and most experts believe the rise will continue unless there is a change in human behaviour. Otherwise hope must lie in the results of research - but very little is being done.
