The new Volvo 144 Saloon makes its first appearance in Britain this week. It is made at Gothenburg in a factory as long as Pall Mall. Wheelbase road-tests the new Volvo in London and visits the Torslanda works in Sweden where inspectors can send faulty cars 'back to square one' on the production line to be assembled all over again.
