Julian Joseph meets the contemporary tenor saxophone giant who is now one of the most sought after players of his generation. Brecker talks about his childhood growing up in Philadelphia and about his work with drummer Billy Cobham, with pianist Horace Silver and with his brother, trumpeter Randy Brecker, with whom he formed an influential jazz-rock group in the 1970s.

Tonight's concert features guitarist Bill Frisell in different ensembles. In the Bill Frisell Ensemble he is joined by Greg Leisz (slide guitars), Ron Miles (trumpet), Jenny Scheinman (violin), Tony Scherr (bass) and Kenny Wollesen (drums). And on their first appearance in the UK, Frisell leads the Intercontinental Quartet, with Brazilian guitarist and percussionist Vincius Cantuaria, oudist Christos Govetas and West African percussionist Sidiki Camara. With special guests UK folk singer Eliza Carthy and Radio 3 World Music award winner DjelimadyTounkara.
