Lee Morgan. Julian Joseph and Byron Wallen select classic recordings by the hard boptrumpet starwhose career began in the big band of Dizzy Gillespie in 1956. In 1957 he appeared on John Coltrane 's album Blue Train and by 1958 he had joined Art Blakey 's Jazz Messengers.
Morgan achieved commercial success in 1964 with The Sidewinder, the title track of one of Blue Note's bestselling albums.
