David Munrow. Stephen Johnson presents the first of two programmes featuring BBC archive recordings made by the early music pioneer and broadcaster, David Munrow. Today he reflects on Munrow as virtuoso recorder player, with music by Handel and Telemann. There is also archive material of Munrow's Early
Music Consort with excerpts from a studio portrait of the group in its first year.

The American video artist Bill Viola works in a modern genre which has developed as the technology has advanced. But his work is about humanity and owes much to the Italian Renaissance art he admires and to world cultures and religions. On the occasion of his largest work to date opening in Berlin, he talks to John Tusa about his work and its place in the modern world.
