George Gershwin and Richard
Rodgers composed for the West End stage. Primrose, Gershwin's one London show, was a bright and jolly caper typical of the twenties. Rodgers and Hart's diverse output contained musicals and revues with a treasure trove of song - including My Heart Stood Still and Dancing on the Ceiling - both introduced by Jessie Matthews.
