In the first of four programmes recalling performances from the 60s, Canadian-bom cellist Zara Nelsova is portrayed in her recordings from the BBC Sound Archive. Gordon Stewart introduces the music and talks to Eleanor Warren, fellow cellist and long-time friend about Nelsova's career and her wide musical tastes. The programme includes Hugh Wood 's Cello Concerto, whose premiere she gave at the 1969 Proms, and the Chopin Cello Sonata with Artur Balsam.
