Live from the Met: War and Peace
Based on Tolstoy's epic novel, Prokofiev's mighty wartime opera sees the collision of two worlds: the whirl of romantic Imperial Balls contrasts with the gritty realism of Napoleon's "scorched earth" invasion of 1812. The two worlds are finally united as the fatally wounded Andrey meets his beloved Natasha one last time. The French are defeated and the victors raise a hymn to the great Russian spirit. The parallels with the Soviet situation in 1942 are clearto see in Prokofiev's masterpiece. Valery Gergiev conducts an authentically Russian cast.
New York Metropolitan Opera Chorus and Orchestra, conductor Valery Gergiev Parti

The Maze. HMP Maze housed some of the world's most dangerous paramilitary prisoners during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Escapes, hunger strikes, dirty protests, riots and murders were features of its infamous history. Following the early release of prisoners the Maze now stands deserted, a ghostly reminder of a troubled past. Between the Ears takes a soundscape tour of the prison's notorious H-Block, uncovering the dramatic history of the Maze through the words and music of two former prisoners, with a specially commissioned soundtrack from the Brian Irvine Ensemble. Producers Declan McGovern and Stephen Douds
