Between the Ears

on BBC Radio 3

The Maze. HMP Maze housed some of the world's most dangerous paramilitary prisoners during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Escapes, hunger strikes, dirty protests, riots and murders were features of its infamous history. Following the early release of prisoners the Maze now stands deserted, a ghostly reminder of a troubled past. Between the Ears takes a soundscape tour of the prison's notorious H-Block, uncovering the dramatic history of the Maze through the words and music of two former prisoners, with a specially commissioned soundtrack from the Brian Irvine Ensemble.
