A feast of baroque music is performed by the Virtuosi di Roma, one of the world's most celebrated chamber orchestras.
They play without a conductor and in tonight's concert offer five concertos, including Boccherini's most famous cello concerto.
Angelo Stefanato, their leader and artistic director, says:
"We are delighted to return to the Proms after a three-year absence with a tribute to Boccherini on the 250th anniversary of his birth, and four contrasting concertos by our beloved Vivaldi. The programme happily gives each of our soloists a concerto to play and I will play solo violin in Il favorito."
Introduced by James Naughtie from the Royal Albert Hall.
(Simultaneous Broadcast with Radio 3)
