Tonight's presentation in this season of feature films starring Richard Widmark, Lionel Barrymore, Dean Stockwell with Cecil Kellaway, Gene Lockhart

A spectacular portrayal of the perilous life aboard a New England whaling boat. Lionel Barrymore plays the ageing captain of the Pride of Bedford, a tough but understanding skipper on his last voyage. Richard Widmark is the First Mate and the young Dean Stockwell plays the Captain's orphaned grandson who signs on in the family tradition. Director Henry Hathaway provides some thrilling scenes of whale hunting and there are tense moments when the whaler hits an iceberg.
